What is Westie Walk? Definitely one of the cutest thing in the world! If you haven't heard about it yet, it's definitely time! 😊
First, let's do a quick introduction to who the Westie or West Highland White Terrier is. Westie is a small dog with white fur, pointy ears and adorable eyes. The breed was bred in Scotland and got its current name in 1909. There could be around 600 Westies walking around the streets of Estonia.
The Westie Walk is being organized for the fourth time and in three cities at the same time. Westies in Tallinn, Tartu and Pärnu will meet on June 2 at 5 p.m. to take a nice walk together and create new friendships between people and dogs. A total of 60 dogs have participated in the three cities, last time the youngest participant was only 3 months old.
A joint walk is a good way to get to know the breed if you are considering taking such a friend home. In addition to a cute appearance, each breed has its own characteristics in behavior, hair care, health and much more. Who better to get information and ask questions than a westie owner.
In addition to the walk, the organizers always try to give it added value, for example by inviting a trainer or sharing an experience story. The dogs have also been able to try different sports. Westies may be tiny, but they have a lot of energy that needs to be released.
If you can't make it to the walk this time, but would still like to get to know the breed better, contact the Estonian West Highland White Terrier Breed Association. The breed association will help you with all questions about the breed, their desire is to do explanatory work so that every dog owner is aware of everything about the breed. The breed association actively shares information on Facebook, and there are also great events coming up.
WESTIE WALK 2024 on June 2
We will gather at 17:00:
We get together, get to know each other and go out together to enjoy fresh air and fun company with our Westies.
On a joint walk, the dogs get to know others of their kind and get a chance to find new dog friends. Owners can introduce this great breed to everyone who is interested - there is no more eye-catching sight than many Westies walking together! All friendly four-legged friends are welcome.
Westie Walk is an initiative of Estonian Westie friends to celebrate the official registration of this dog breed bred in Scotland. Formerly known as the Roseneath Terrier, the breed was officially registered as the West Highland White Terrier on 31 May 1909. In Estonia, this day was celebrated for the first time with a joint walk in May 2021.
