Whether you're fresh or already a longer-term dog owner, treats will always find their way to the shopping cart. The choice is very wide, and surely every dog has already developed his favorite treats. When Ruudi came to our family, it turned out that something was causing him allergies. We began strict dietary monitoring, which also meant that the content of the treat must be thoroughly reviewed.

An easier solution for me was to start making treats myself, so I definitely knew what was inside the treats. There are a lot of recipes to find on the Internet, so there was no choice but to start experimenting on your own. I chose a suitable recipe and began to adapt it according to Ruudi's preferences. Fortunately for me, Ruudi is a dog with a very good appetite, which gave me a wide range of options in terms of ingredients. Banana is a big favorite of Ruudi, so the banana must definitely be present in Ruudi's recipe. Be sure to review what are the safe foods for the dog.

Through various experiments, we came up with a recipe that makes Ruudi's eyes shine and that motivates him enough to use them in training. DIY treats are a good way to keep an eye on what your dog is eating, and in addition, it is also very friendly to the wallet. I will share our recipe with you, encourage you to experiment and change the recipe according to your favorite preferences.

Ruudi's favorite cookies

  • 1 banana

  • 1 egg

  • 1 dl monoprotein canned food (Ruudi's favorites from the Brit Care series: Single protein canned 400g Sheep - Brit Care | Koerland)

  • 1.5 dl instant oatmeal

  • 1.5 dl wholemeal flour

Mix together the wet ingredients. Add instant oatmeal and wholemeal flour. The amount of wholemeal flour varies, use so much that you can get the right dough for you. Form into tiny balls or in a thin layer on baking paper (halfway through the baking, cut in a grid to simply break the finished dough later). Put in the oven at 180 degrees for about 25 min.

For Ruudi, this recipe is one of the favorites, also for me, who has to prepare them. The cookies are ready quickly and the ingredients can be changed. If there is no banana at home, then I add carrots instead.

Successful testing! If your dog already has his favorite recipe and would like to share it with us, write to us.
