It is common in our family that when cooking for ourselves, Ruudi can also nibble on something from the cutting board. However, some vegetables are better for dogs than others, and so it is with fruits. So let's go over what you can and can't share with your friend.
Apple is a favorite fruit of many dogs, pleasantly crunchy and juicy. Apples are good sources of vitamins A and C. In addition to vitamins, apples have a good amount of fiber. The seeds should be removed from the fruit, they are not necessary for the dog.
Banana is definitely Ruud's favorite, so that already gives an additional recommendation 😊 The nutritional value of bananas is high, and they also contain vitamins. It is worth remembering that bananas contain sugar, that is, the amount offered to the dog should be smaller rather than larger.
Blueberries, and especially here I mean our forest blueberries, which make the tongue wonderfully blue. Blueberries are a great snack for dogs to offer as a treat or to add to their food. Berries have a lot of antioxidants and vitamins C and K. In addition, berries are low in calories, but it should be remembered that they also contain sugar.
Strawberries are also a big favorite of dogs, and if they have the chance, they will eat them right out of the bed. Strawberries, like blueberries, are the perfect treat and bundle of vitamins, but remember that berries contain sugar.
Broccoli is a low-fat, low-calorie vegetable. Contains plenty of different vitamins and minerals, all of which would benefit your pet. Broccoli can be given to the dog fresh or steamed, given as a treat or to add a little freshness to his food.
Carrot is a deliciously crunchy snack for every favorite, it contains plenty of vitamins and minerals. Carrots are a favorite of many dogs when they are fresh, but you get more benefits from carrots when they are steamed.
Sweet potatoes are rich in vitamins and, like carrots, sweet potatoes also support eye health. Sweet potato has a sweet taste, but the amount of sugar is not too high, which makes it a suitable snack for overweight dogs.
These are some of the most popular fruits and vegetables that are on our menu and are also ideal for your dog. Ruudi's favorites are definitely apple, banana and carrot, so if you plan to offer something to your dog, these three are Ruudi's recommendations :)
